Book Review: Walking With God in the Season of Motherhood

Waling with God in the Season of Motherhood Book Review

“If we yearn for children who take their needs to God in prayer, it is important that we increasingly become women of prayer.” -Melissa B. Kruger

Motherhood can be extremely overwhelming no mater what stage of it your are in, new mom, mom of multiples, or mom of one.  Often our time is not our own, and we are extremely busy with feedings and diaper changes or rushing around from school and activities. Being a mother is the most rewarding journey but at times you can feel unrewarded, tired and like you are failing. Whenever I have moments like this I try to remember to turn to God.

Melissa B. Kruger has written the best Eleven Week Devotional Bible Study, Walking with God in the Season of Motherhood. From “understanding our purpose” to getting over “Perfect Mom Syndrome,” Melissa guides you through the eleven weeks with daily devotionals and questions. She brings forth those insecurities we moms tend to carry and leads us through scripture that encourages us and gives us grace.

This book came about because as a mom herself Melissa new how important spending time with God is so she wrote a devotional for her friend (and a new mom) as a gift.  The Book is eleven chapters, each chapter is divided into 5 daily studies. The first four days are scriptures based with the bible verses included in the book and the fifth day is a devotional with a personal story.  In the introduction Melissa says she wanted moms to be able to read the book when that had a quiet moment even if that meant it was while you were waiting the carpool like at school, that is why she chose to not just reference bible verses but include them in the book.

Favorite Things About the Book:

-I love why Melissa wrote the book, to me that is what makes is so great. From her own experiences she knew what kind of bible study moms need.

-I love her personal stories.

-The questions make me pause and reflect on what I read.

-It encourages me and uplifts me.

This book gets a 5 out of 5! When I first started this study I truly felt like Melissa knew what struggles I was facing as a mom and what I needed from a devotional.

I received this book from blogging for books to review. All opinions are my own.
